KETTLES

All about KETTLES:

Okay - so I have been in the UK for about nine months now. (yay - or maybe not so yay considering the gd exchange rate - sheesh... but when I work for the uni like I have been doing lately - the exchange rate works in my favor! woo hoo) excuse me...I digressed for a moment from the topic at hand - KETTLES...

So I think in the states we have WAY more service industries, better taste in fashion and music - and I do NOT intend any longer to become an ex-pat. In fact, my boyfriend wants to move over to the states also - so that is a bonus.

But the Brits do one thing at least - MUCH better than we do in the states - KETTLES. Kettles are the most useful items I have ever seen. They boil water - rapidly and everyone (except Monty's friend John - who must a Neanderthal) has one in their kitchen. Genius idea that for some reason hasn't yet crossed the pond.

Kettles can be used to make instant coffee, tea, oatmeal, or to fill a hot water bottle (okay that is another useful thing that is not used AS much at home - but saves on energy. Let's face it - heating pads use electricty.) They range in price from like 5 quid (pounds to yanks) to the upwardly mobile price of around £100+ for the top of the line. I have a £30 Russell Hobbs that I foolishly purchased at John Lewis - what was I thinking?!?!?

The Kettle is versatile and saves time.

When I return home I intend to get a kettle franchise and outfit them with the proper electrical cyclical current and plug and start selling them on e-bay, QVC and the Home Shopping Network. If they take off from there then I can distribute them to Wal-Mart and REALLY start raking in the cash.

No home should be without a KETTLE.

the 69 effect

I have been rating portfolios like mad lately and have noticed a trend...

a lot of people use 69 after their name if they add a number.

my question is why?

Is it because of the sexual connotation or because Bill & Ted think that number is Excellent or what?

I would only add that number after my name if:

1) I were born in 1969 (or 1869 or whatever year the vampire 'thinks' it was born in...ha ha)

2) I were a Cancer (well I am a Cancer - but that is beside the point) and used the 69 number to represent my glyph...

OR

3) I were really into oral .... well you know. I suppose that is why most people use it - and I am not dissing them - just an observation I have made from looking at so many profile names over the last few days.

69 DUDES!

27 members (today at least) at Level 27 - how COOL is that?

I FINALLY made Necromancer!

It has been a long time coming and what with me spending so much time away working on research, having a great boyfriend (Scotsmen are HOT), and all the changes that have occurred over the last nine months, well...I really haven't spent time here like I used to. So it took me ages to get to this level and I really appreciate it.

Sire Nihonin is happy and I am so glad that I can assist the coven by being proactive when I have a little down time from school. Tomorrow and for the rest of the week and part of next week I am working as a reader and an invigilator for undergraduate exams so took the time today to really push for that level by rating all the portfolios that I could. It was tiresome - but I made a lot of new friends and got a few nice ratings myself.

So today was totally terrific!

It is always a great day when we level up here on VR - especially when we get up this high. It takes a lot of time (check how many DAYS a Necromancer has to be on), pages viewed, posts in the forum and of course, rates to get here - oh and yes, the marks from Cancer and Nihonin help as well, but still it is a great deal of work as anyone who has achieved this status knows.

I am not the self-congratulatory type usually, but today I really feel that I accomplished something that means a lot to me and my commitment to my VR family and the website.

Go me!

:D
